Abstract
Francesca Seller’s essay offers a study of Naples’s leading music publishing house in the second half of the nineteenth century, the Società Musicale Napoletana. Drawing on previously unpublished archival documents and original catalogues, the article reconstructs the company’s history from its founding in 1885 to its acquisition by Bideri and Ricordi in 1905, while surveying its catalogue and the types of works it published.
