Abstract
In her essay, Anna Rosaria Valanzuolo guides the reader into the realm of salon instrumental music, focusing on Vincenzo De Meglio’s trios for violin, cello, and piano. The author analyzes the complex compositional process through which the musician reworks well-known opera themes, clearly influenced by recent foreign musical experiences. De Meglio thus creates compositions that, fully integrated into the context of salon music, diverge from the originals and develop their own autonomous and defined formal structure.
